The days are getting shorter, the nights are getting longer. Even the darkness seems deeper than usual. Ryuk has been been taking advantage of the shadows to lurk and watch people going about their business, but there are two people in particular he's been wanting to see, the snarky lady who finds him amusing and the disheveled detective whom he observed for so long. And so, he'll go in search of them, gliding along the walls and perching on tops of high shelves and bookcases or other tall bits of furniture to take in the room before gliding off on the hunt...

Title nicked from "This is Halloween" from the "Nightmare Before Christmas" soundtrack. Looking specifically for L and for Ines, but if anyone wants a spooky shinigami, feel free to tap the typist!

It isn't often that Ryuk finds books that he likes that don't have a lot of pictures, but he's found some cute-freaky young adult novels that he thinks Misa would like.

And so he comes gliding into the main room, books under one long, skinny arm. "Hey, Misa! I found a present for yah," he says, looking around. Spying no sign of the Mansion's resident gothic-punk-loli, he'll headtilt. "Huh... she in room, makin' up her face or makin' up some new clothes?" Undeterred, he'll head back to search for her, sticking his head through the wall of her room. Not there, either.

Thus, he'll head out, scouring the Mansion for Misa, and gradually realizing she's nowhere to be found, his winged shoulders starting to droop in the process.

Looking for an L, though if anyone else wants to say hello to the mopey shinigami, feel free to tap the typist!

He should have known that being a spy would involve some strange stuff, but he didn't expect the discovery he'd hit upon.

In the course of spying on the Warden, for Ines, Ryuk has had his weirdest discovery. Something that has quite simply broken his rather simple brain. He knew humans were weird by shinigami standards, but he didn't think they were *this* weird.

He's currently hiding on top of one of the cabinets in the main room, muttering to himself, some untouched apples next to his head as he lays with his spidery legs and arms dangling down.

"This is just damn weird... this is just too damn weird..."

Looking for an Ines (though if anyone else wants a Ryuk, feel free to tap the typist)! And there will be quite weird revelations from the weirded out shinigami....
death_kl0wn: (Yum apples!)
Maledisant might come upon a book with a colorful cover... hovering several inches off the top of a random table in the main room. It might lower a bit, as if whatever is holding it has looked up.

Ryuk was just reading the newest issue of Shonen Jump that he found in the library when he spots the medieval-looking gal. "Oooh, purty," he says, likely oblivious to the fact that she can't see him.

He's a little dense about that sort of thing, from time to time.

So! Looking for a sharp-tongued lady, though of course, anyone is free to say hello to ye shinigami. Just tap the typist!

We're not sure how it happened. Maybe it's the Mansion playing hob with Ryuk's looks. Maybe it's some unconscious wish come true....

But one morning, Ryuk realizes he's been sleeping, something he hasn't ever done before. But there's more to it: when he looks down at himself, he looks different. At first, he wonders if he's switched bodies with Light somehow, but the skin is all wrong.

He hops down from the cabinet on which he was curled up: taking the drop is a little tougher than it looks, minus his wings, but he makes it easier than he expected.

"Whoa, dig this bod!" he says.

There's a new spy in the Mansion, though he's done a little work before, ala a film noir detective looking for a guy's missing girlfriend. This time, however, Ryuk is trying to be discreet as he sneaks around the Mansion, looking for a guy who answers to a name he's stolen off one of Tsuzuki's (not always organized) files.

It's keeping him busy, and he always likes meeting new people.

Light has given Ryuk his blessing to court Misa's attentions and keep her busy. Ryuk, curious about this whole romance-lovey-dovey stuff is happy to have this permission.

He's gotten a box of chocolates from the Plothole and a bunch of flowers randomly picked from the garden. Right now, he's at Misa's door, tapping it with one foot, since his hands are full.

- The notebook shall become the property of the human world, once it touches the ground of (arrives in) the human world.

- The owner of the note can recognize the image and voice of the original owner, i.e. a god of death/shinigami.

- The human who uses the notebook can neither go to Heaven nor Hell.

It takes a while for Ryuk to go over every room in the Mansion: it's a big place and there are a lot of rooms. That and for chuckles, Ryuk has been toting a small magnifying glass -- don't detectives carry them? -- which naturally does not go through walls with him (thus, he's dropped it more than a few times and lost it on occasion before finally leaving it behind in a random empty room). But it's kept him busy during the dull weeks after the holidays.

It isn't until late in January that he turns up in the bar, floating through the ceiling and lighting on a stool, sitting there in his weird hunched-up way.

"Hey, yah got any apple cider in this joint?" he calls out

Title shamelessly stolen from a Straight No Chaser song...

Ryuk has been puzzling over yet another conundrum: this whole mushy thing called love. He knows Misa is hoopey over Light, even though Light seems only half interested in her. And he, Ryuk, knows there's something he likes about getting hugs from Misa, he's just not sure what it is.

So he decides to go to his source for explanations of human behavior. But this time, he decides to bring along a gift: while exploring the attic, he'd stuck his head into a trunk containing a box of jewelry, likely costume stuff, but he's not one to know the difference. And so he's roaming the Mansion, carrying with him a box containing what could pass as a sapphire necklace with two matching bracelets and a tiara set with more sapphires.

Ryuk has settled into a rough routine: when he isn't lurking around Light, or people watching in the main room or the library, he's been prowling around in the evening, looking for Pandora. He's not sure why, but he really digs her: she's opened his eyes about a few things and while the experience is unusual, he likes it. She's one of the few beings he's ever met who seemed interested in him as a being, and not for his Death Note, which is a novel experience in and of itself. Maybe that's why he wants her to have it. It would get it away from that wack-job Mikami. And he doesn't want to think of what that pale guy with the glasses and the freaky date of death would do to him to get it.

Thus he's hovering around the hallways of the Mansion one evening, peeking into rooms by sticking his head through walls, looking for Pandora.
